Metla arranges climate change programs for pupils and teachers

Metla Communications will open a website for that week (up to November 11th), where pupils can ask questions of what kind of great impacts climate change can have on growth, health and biodiversity of boreal forest ecosystems (the website is in Finnish language only).

In addition to the website researchers will visit schools and tell about climate change and we also ask schools to visit our research units.

Vantaa, Haapastensyrjä, Parkano, Kannus, Joensuu, Suonenjoki, and Rovaniemi Research Units will arrange different kind of programme for schools on that week.

Metla

Metla is the main forest research institution in Finland and one of the biggest forest research institutes in the whole Europe. The Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) was established in 1917, and started its activities in July 1918. Since then Metla has grown considerably; the current network of research units covers the whole country.

The Finnish Forest Research Institute is a governmental, sectoral research institute, subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
